Three whales found dead on the Spanish coastline 15 metres long whale has been washed up onto a beach close to Luarca in Asturias.
The body is about half complete, with the area behind the dorsal fin missing, and had been carried to the beach by the strong currents in the area after first being spotted two miles from Cabo de Busto.
14 metre long Razorback whale, weighing an estimated 20 tons has appeared dead on the beach at Bolonia near to Tarifa in Cádiz Province.
The mammal was first spotted at 1030 on Saturday morning some 200 metres from shore by a Civil Guard patrol, who alerted the coastguard. The whale was dying and had become caught up in one of the safety buoys at Bolonia beach and had several clear wounds.
The waves finally brought the body of the dead animal to shore where members of the CREA Andalucian Centre for the Recovery of Marine Species took over. They intend to break up the animal into pieces and to try to establish the cause of its death.
